I think I finally worked through it. This one needed to be a video post. Here ya go, and sorry for the delay. A few thoughts below. xxC
—If you’re thinking about becoming a paid subscriber, I’ve put a discount in the machine, so now’s a good time. However, please let me know if this would be an annoyance or difficulty for your budgeting. I get it, no biggie, I got you covered.
—For those of you who are familiar with the lovely Story Club with George Saunders, LitCafe may end up looking like a less well-slept version of that—probably with a bias towards poetry.
—I may include (optional) questions, anecdotes, useful terms, and yes, even (optional) prompts or suggestions for you to try out yourself in the dark of your closet, if you choose, to see what it might feel like to be the one making these things we read. I might pop a video session in once in a while.
—Please use the comments section or reply directly to me, whether or not you’re currently a paid subscriber. I’d like to hear from everyone who has thoughts on this. Here are some questions to get you going:
Which topics or texts would you like to see me run naked into (wait for it)?
What have you struggled with, as a person who believes they “don’t get” poetry, or “can’t really write”?
Or, if you’re a writer, how can I help deepen and free up your practice? What would feel good to hear about from me as you work on your own writing?
Which demons can I scare out from under your beds, readers and writers?
What do you wish your high school or college English teacher had done with or for you?
What do you want to be able to do with words?
I’m here for it.

SO EXCITED FOR LIT CAFE
