What a celebration! The tension between stillness and change set to the annual drumbeat of holiday tradition with all of the pageantry and tomfoolery of families crushed together under the weight of good cheer, credit card debt and full bellies. You've named it plainly Caroline, holidays mark change and under the heavy blanket of humor and silliness there is the deep comforting mattress of love - love for what is now, and what will become. Thanks for shining your light on these brilliant complicated traditions. As usual your words sparkle.

With your surprising, spontaneously chosen words you manage to weave a tapestry of such complexity that one can only see a coherent whole when standing a few feet (yards?) back from it. A BRILLIANT exposition of a complicated, exhausting, disappointing, thrilling and most of all, inevitably surprising time of year best faced in the knowledge that daylight hours ARE getting longer!
